Olivier Gay Quintet at Sunset-Sunside

Created at the initiative of Olivier Gay, trumpet player and composer of the group, this quintet is made of young musicians reknown in the French Jazz scene (for instance, Pierre Perchaud was awarded at the Victoires de la Musique Jazz with his band "Fox"). Influenced primarily by New York musicians such as Jason Palmer, Ambrose Akinmusire, Philip Dizack, Dave Douglas, Tom Harrell and Ralph Alessi, their compositions take us into a variety of musical worlds ranging from binary rhythms, rock, to more Afro / ternary atmospheres leaving the room for improvisation and creation ... Formé à l'initiative d'Olivier Gay, trompettiste et compositeur du groupe, ce quintet est formé de jeunes musiciens reconnus de la scène Jazz Française (Pierre Perchaud a entre autres été primé aux Victoires de la musique Jazz avec son groupe « Fox »)​ Influencé principalement par les musiciens New Yorkais tels que de Jason Palmer, Ambrose Akinmusire, Philip Dizack, Dave Douglas, Tom Harrell ou Ralph Alessi, ses compositions nous emmènent dans des univers musicaux variés qui vont des rythmes binaires, rock, à des atmosphères plus afro/ternaires laissant la part belle à l'improvisation et à la création...Ce projet a la volonté de faire évoluer et de renouveler constamment sa musique tant dans l'interprétation que dans la composition.​ Le quintet s’est produit dans divers festivals et salles de spectacle français (Respire Jazz Festival, Jazz au Confluent, Festival Jazz en Ville, Festival Jazz in Out de La Rochelle…) et enregistrera son premier album en 2019 .​Le projet fait partie du Collectif Déluge, collectif et label formé de musiciens Parisiens et Bordelais.
